In Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh Ram Mandir dispute between Hindus and Muslim was going on for more than 70 years. On 9th November 2019, the Supreme Court has resolved this case. Supreme Court CJI Ranjan Gogoi announced that the 2.77 acres of land where the Babri Masjid was demolished was given to the Hindu’s. Muslim’s were given another land. The construction of the temple will begin on 2nd April 2020. It is because it is Ram Navami which is Ram’s birthday. The pre-construction work will begin on 14 January 2020 which is Makar Sakranti. The construction of the temple will begin on 2nd April 2020 and will be ready in 2-3 years. It will hopefully be ready before 2022 Uttar Pradesh elections. It is not known if any ground breaking ceremony will be held before the start of the construction. The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) said that since 2nd April is Ram’s birthday it is an auspicious day to start the construction. The SC had ordered the Central Government to set up a Trust in three months. This means that by February all preparations such reports and land details will be ready. Once it is ready construction can start. The VHP wants the temple to be constructed as per the design prepared by architect Chandrakant Sompura.
