When God was born. When Jesus was born, um… Mary thought it was a normal day. And then she hopped out of bed. And then she thought it was a normal day. She was reading a book. Making cookies. Sleeping. An angel came flying through the window. It was frightening. Her knees where banging against each other and her teeth were chattering. She might have said “Who are you?” He would have said “I’m an angel”. And then the angel asked her to have a baby. And he would be the Son of God. Maybe she was thinking: “How could I have a baby? I haven’t made one”. Maybe she was a bit confused. She said it was going to be very, very special. Not many people in Heaven have babies. Not many. She was going to be engagement to Joseph. Joseph was a carpenter. “I’m going to be having a baby” He would have thought “Wow, she’s having a baby. Why?” God told Gabriel to tell Joseph: “You must have a baby and you’ll call him Jesus” And then she was, like, really pregnant. And then they had to go to Bethlehem. They didn’t have any cars, or bikes or anything to go on. “Get on!” “Get on it”. Poor Joseph had to walk. And Mary was on the donkey. Um, coz Mary had a really big tummy. It was a long trip. When they got to Bethlehem, they were looking inn to stay but they couldn’t find any inns. “Go away, there’s no room” They looked and looked and looked everywhere. But then there was one house at the end of the street and the inn keeper said “You can come in the stable”. And so they did. A manger is this place where a whole lot of hay is. I think it would smell kind of hay-ish and animal poo-ish. It would have smelt disgusting. And they had their baby that night. Mary’s tummy opened up. Jesus popped out. He had a little round body, a little head… that didn’t cry at all coz He was Jesus. Baby Jesus. It was God’s son. He was naked. He was a normal human. He was the new baby king, and He was the nicest king. Up above was a very bright star that God made. It was the biggest star in the world. Twinkle, twinkle little star. Wise men and shepherds came. They followed the star. The very bright star. They looked everywhere. They saw him eventually and then they gave him presents. “His name is Jesus”.
